Reaction injection molding was developed in the late 1970s. US using reaction injection molding method to isocyanates and polyether polyurethane made of semi-rigid plastic car bumpers, plastic injection toy mould , dashboards, etc. This method has the equipment investment and operating costs low, parts looks beautiful, good impact resistance, design flexibility advantages of large, rapid development of the 1980s. Reaction injection molding can be obtained polyurethane rigid foam surface structure. In order to further improve the rigidity and strength of products, when mixed with various reinforcing materials in the raw material called reinforced thin wall injection molding , the product can be used for automotive exterior body panels, hood. Newly developed varieties are epoxy resins, dicyclopentadiene polymer, silicone resins and interpenetrating polymer networks.
